I don’t write long rants like this too often but getting constant spam by them (and now from sweet cunts of Universal Music Group as well) ignited my need to write about this
So here’s a story about Got Grooves 24/7
So, last March this user called gotgrooves247 started following me on soundcloud.com and the first comment was made on my DJ mix saying “powerful but gentle. lots of great layers and strength”. And because that wasn’t obviously enough to market their service, they also commented on my other mix “i love it!”. At this moment I went to see the profile and saw that they are offering ghost production services for people who don’t know or don’t have time to make music. That got me annoyed so I blocked the user.
Well, that wasn’t enough because 3 weeks later they came back to my profile with a new user account GG001 and yet again commented my mix. This time with “Great track dude! Please check this out : http://soundcloud.com/gotgrooves004/sets/producing-and-selling-house/”
Due to the annoying fact that I still wanted to produce my own music instead of buying tracks from them and faking those to be mine, they had to keep going on by starting to spam my email as well! This is what I got

After this spam I decided to contact them and tell them my opinion about their service and sent them an email:
First of all, quit spamming. That is impolite.
Second of all, I have no respect in the business you do. What the fuck is the point of faking creativity. This is the kind of bullshit that is killing music business and ruining everything good and pure about it.
And don’t give me this “yeah but most of pop stars sing songs made by others”. Yeah, it’s true. But it’s pop. And at least they do something for the music themselves.
Third of all, if you are running business, shouldn’t you be proud and honest enough to send your spam letters signed with a full name? But I guess with this kind of bullshit, you are not willing to even identify yourself. Which is quite understandable.
But anyways, you’ve already been spamming my soundcloud account multiple times with your shit. And that wasn’t enough when I commented about your bullshit, instead you have so little respect to your “possible” customers that you don’t even mind that. You just spam every email address you can find.
I have no respect for the business you do and I don’t appreciate your way of handling your business. So the least you could do is to stop spamming me.
Of course you are welcome to answer this mail, but else than that; please stop it before you start it

We maintain it, and we give good tracks… maybe you don’t know but a lot of top 10 tracks and quality tracks are made by bedroom producers.
You hardly find top dj’s producers that even know to produce… that’s a joke… and you can keep believe that!
And because this is industry… none of the real good producers that make tracks 100 times better than what i do or what you hear in the top… they will never get big!

…and now we’re back into the reality about money and business. I mean why in the hell would I do music for passion? There might be no pay! Oh my dear! That’s the exact reason I started to play piano when I was a kid: I wanted to make shitloads of money by producing electronic music. And that’s the reason I played guitar in bands which never even played publicly. And the reason why one of the best ways to spend time for me is still to sit in a studio making music. What a subtle motivator that money has always been!

People need to have fun… and be entertained. they don’t give a shit about passion, about the time invested in a track (sometimes hours , sometimes months or a year) … they get drunk and dancing on your “hardly worked piece of art”

I am not naive enough to think that this kind of shit doesn’t happen. I actually know several people who use other producers to make “their” tracks in order to gain fame. And I despise them all. You know who you are.
Being famous seems to be so big of a thing for people nowadays that there’s no ethics or being proud of what you are good at anymore. Should I hire a talented ice hockey player to play as me? We’ll just put my name on the back of his shirt and hide his face from the press. Only because I don’t know how to play hockey or don’t have time to practise it.
Maybe I will be playing in NHL one day then.
Fuck this.
Oh, and thank you Universal Music Group for spamming me once a week by your crap. You big labels are doing all you can to educate how illegal downloading is wrong and punish people who do so, and yet you somehow find it ok to spam me once a week? Greetings from double standards.
And all you who put your effort and energy to make music, because it’s what you wanna do: never quit it! No one can ever take that pleasure away and that joy can’t be bought with money!
Yet again a year ends and yet again it means some heady gig action for me.

After Aces, I’ll be performing a live set in an underground party in capital city area. Sorry, but no further infos about that one.
And as a cherry in top of the cake, I’m finishing it all off at After Hours & Aftherapy New Year Morning Party in Playground. It will be a huge afterparty so also Venue will be open. Both with one ticket!

Christmas has been the only time of the year when I’ve declined from any bookings and instead spent the time with family and loved ones eating and chilling out. This year is no exception, but this needs some preliminary preparations. And to be sure I really need the rest, there’s quite a wicked amount of rave action before the short holiday.
On Friday 14.12. I’m playing in Magdalena, Berlin in Kleine Technomonster with Drauf und Dran, Alle Farben, Umami & several others.

Saturday evening (15.12.) will be spent in Helsinki where I’m playing in Playground at New Event -party with Skinnerbox from BPitch control.

And like this would be enough? No way! That would seem like a regular weekend. Next stop ist the same location, but a different party. Due to Finnish laws, clubs close at 04am but we’ve been fighting against this stupid policy with our After Hours parties now for almost 4 years and so next stop is obviously After Hours Christmas Special. We’re doing some Christmas magic there with other After Hours residents, Milla Lehto & Concha.
And like even that would be enough, next stop in Sunday evening is in Jyväskylä. I’m playing there in Sour with Jekaterina and local heroes.
And also, as there is some spare time in Christmas, I will quite likely blog about something else than my gigs because there’s one thing that has been bothering me for a long time and I want to vent it out with a proper rant. For the sake of Christmas spirit!
Time flies. I can still remember the warm breeze in the last open air we went to on Deutsche Wiedervereinigung on 3th of October and now it’s almost winter. Well, the cold and dark air at least justifies sitting in my studio instead of spending time having fun at open air parties for example. Nevertheless, every once in a while man must leave its nest; to gather food for winter or just to entertain himself and others by DJing. And tonight is the night for that!
I’m first putting on some soothing tunes at ‘Kesto’ art exhibition opening at Musterzimmer, Berlin and then heading to Magdalena, Berlin for Ein Herz Für Hänger, a club night I’ve had an honour to play in already several times.
So time to get myself warmed up to be able to navigate through the coldness.
Yeah I know I have this blog and I know I should post something here even moderately often, but every single time I’ve thought of doing that I’ve rather opened Cubase and worked on new tracks. And now there such a huge pile of ready, unreleased and unsigned tracks that I quite likely have to start writing emails to labels instead of updating my blog. Cruel life.
But all this work has paid off! There’s few remixes coming out this winter and hopefully some own and co-produced tracks as well, once the proper label for those has been found. But I will keep you updated about this process!
But I promise that eventually I get so bored of making music that I will start writing about something pseudo-meaningful. Until that, try to bear with the fact that musician is actually making music :( Doesn’t happen too often, anyways!
So, the summer is coming to and end which means that the clubs all around are getting more active, which also means that next few months will be full of action. This weekend is a good example of that.
On Friday I was invited to Escapism Musique’s label night at RAW Tempel, Berlin to share the stage with Luca Albano from Italy and Mindhacker from Romania.
On Saturday I’m travelling to Turku, Finland after a long time. I have mostly great experiences from playing in Turku so I am waiting rubiX really eagerly! There I’m accompanied by Ateah Fall and rubiX resident Nenna. Get your boogie on, Turku. I am ready for you! They also asked me to do a guest mix for their podcast so I did. And is there any better way to finalize a weekend than After Hours in Helsinki? Quite likely not, if you ask me! After Hours has a Berlin Special as there will be a Klangsucht resident Marro from Berlin joining me and Flight, the original loverboy from Tampere.
I’m pretty sure this will be one heck-of-a-ride but heaps of fun. Hope to see you in Berlin, Turku or Helsinki!
